- STAFF – We need requests for digitisation by May 31st
With the imminent move to the Hive, it is anticipated that there may be some disruption to the digitisation service (http://www.worcester.ac.uk/ils/1271.htm).
While every effort will be made to satisfy requests placed throughout the summer, we cannot guarantee that any requests made after May 31st will be available for the start of semester one. Please place requests before this time if you know they will be essential to your modules in September. All requests placed after this date will still be processed, but may not be returned to you in time. Renewals for articles already digitised will be sent to you as normal. Many thanks for your cooperation at this time. Digitisation is proving to be a popular service with staff and students alike, and we look forward to the service growing further with your help in 2012/13.
Please contact digitisation@worc.ac.uk if you have any queries.
- STUDENTS and STAFF – Blue Book Labels
We’re beginning to sort out stock for the move to The Hive so you’ll have noticed some stickers appearing on books…
Blue stickers indicate which books are in high demand by the University. Members of the University will be able to borrow up to 12 of these items at any one time, members of the public will be able to borrow 1, and they may be reserved for University students at peak times. Soon you’ll notice some orange stickers appearing, these will be on short loan University books. Only members of the University will be able to borrow these items, for 24 hour periods. Please leave these stickers in place.
- STUDENTS and STAFF – Remote Store Requests
Due to the start of moving stock to The Hive any items requested from our Remote Store after Wednesday 14th March could be delayed for up to two weeks, after which time normal service will be resumed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
- STUDENTS and STAFF – Changes to ILS and Hive Facebook
As the opening of The Hive draws closer we’re refining how the University Community accesses relevant information about The Hive. At the moment there are 2 separate Facebook pages with information about The Hive – a ‘University page’ and a ‘County Council page’. As of 30th March the page “The Hive – Information for the University Community” will be merged with the “ILS at University of Worcester” page. So if you’re a member of the University looking for University related information about The Hive on Facebook the ILS Facebook page will be the place to go. We’ll keep it up to date with regular information for staff and students about all sorts of ILS information at all sites, including The Hive. We’ll also incorporate the Hive FAQ section for staff and students, and as ever, will be delighted to answer any queries or questions you may have.
If you’re a member of the public looking for Hive information then “The Hive” Facebook page is a great forum for you.

Why should university staff be required to join Facebook in order to read about The Hive? Can’t this information be made available via the usual web site?
Hi John
Many thanks for your comment. We understand that while some colleagues prefer to access information through Facebook (you don’t need to be a member to view the pages), others don’t, so we are doing our best to make sure there other sources of information are available. Notable news will appear in this blog regularly, plus there will also be updates to The Hive webpages at http://www.worcester.ac.uk/hive – we are also working to add additional staff pages to this section in the near future.
