ILS Communications Questionnaire

We’re currently running a survey about how we communicate ILS information to you. If you have a spare few minutes we’d love to get your feedback. The link is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9HH6676 or it’s also accessible through the ILS facebook page: www.facebook.com/UniversityofWorcesterILS

STUDENTS
To all with Inter-Library Loans

Due to the British Library changing their systems, from Monday 23rd April 2012 we will be unable to renew inter library loans.

Please return your inter library loans by the due date on the slip inside the book and on your library record. Contact ill@worc.ac.uk if you have any query about this.

Thank you for your co-operation – we hope this will only be a temporary situation.

STUDENTS and STAFF
Orange book stickers

Work is being done on the Restricted Loan collection in preparation for the move to The Hive. This will become part of the University Short Loan Collection housing items in highest demand (essential reading). These books will be loaned for 24 hours to University students and staff. Members of the public will be able to use these books for reference in The Hive.

You’ll see orange stickers appearing on the books currently in Restricted Loan explaining how the new collection will work when we move to The Hive. Please ignore these for now. There is no change to the status of the books at the moment: they will stay as 5 hour loans until the move to The Hive in June.

STUDENTS and STAFF
Important information about reservations

Anyone reserving an item up until we move to the Hive will find that it is cancelled on 29th June if it hasn’t been satisfied by then. You need to be aware that you won’t get notified of this when they get cancelled, so put this date in your diary as a reminder.

We start moving the books to the Hive on 11th June but this shouldn’t be a problem for reservations as they can still be trapped and held on our reservations shelf for pickup.

If you have any questions just ask a member of ILS staff.

  • STAFF – We need requests for digitisation by May 31st

With the imminent move to the Hive, it is anticipated that there may be some disruption to the digitisation service (http://www.worcester.ac.uk/ils/1271.htm).

While every effort will be made to satisfy requests placed throughout the summer, we cannot guarantee that any requests made after May 31st will be available for the start of semester one. Please place requests before this time if you know they will be essential to your modules in September. All requests placed after this date will still be processed, but may not be returned to you in time. Renewals for articles already digitised will be sent to you as normal.

Many thanks for your cooperation at this time. Digitisation is proving to be a popular service with staff and students alike, and we look forward to the service growing further with your help in 2012/13.

Please contact digitisation@worc.ac.uk if you have any queries.

  • STUDENTS and STAFF – Blue Book Labels

We’re sorting out stock for the move to The Hive so you’ll have noticed some stickers appearing on books…

Blue stickers indicate which books are in high demand by the University. Members of the University will be able to borrow up to 12 of these items at any one time, members of the public will be able to borrow 1, and they may be reserved for University students at peak times.

Soon you’ll notice some orange stickers appearing, these will be on short loan University books. Only members of the University will be able to borrow these items, for 24 hour periods.

Please leave these stickers in place.
