Events in Fairtrade Fortnight: 29th February – 13th March

Fairtrade Photography Exhibition, outside the Cotswold Suite from 22nd February to 4th March and in the Pear Tree from 7th March to 11th March.

Tuesday 1st March:          Bring Your Own Fairtrade Lunch to share.  In the Pear Tree 1.15pm to 2.15pm.  Prize from the Co-op for the tastiest item made with Fairtrade ingredients (bring receipt to show Fairtrade ingredients used).

Wednesday 2nd March:  Zaytoun Sale in Peirson.  Fairly traded Palestinian olive oil, soap, freekeah, maftoul, olives, dates and more.  10.00am to 2.30pm.

Wednesday 2nd March:  Screening of ‘Black Gold – Wake Up and Smell the Coffee’, a documentary about coffee production and exploitation.  All those attending will be given a free sachet of Fairtrade ground coffee.  Screening  5.15 for 5.30pm in EE G162

Tuesday 8th March:          Public Lecture with Professor Suzanne Schwarz: ‘Fair Trade’: Slavery, Abolition and Ethical Trade in the Late Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries.  1.15pm in EE 1026

Tuesday 8th March:          TraidNepal Sale in Peirson.  Fairly traded jewellery, scarves, bags from Nepal, supporting women in communities devastated by earthquake.  10.00am to 2.30pm.

Tuesday 8th March:          Quiz in the Peartree, including a round of questions on Fairtrade.

Thursday 10th March:      Traidcraft sale in Peirson. Groceries, crafts, gifts and more.  10.00am to 2.30pm.

Thursday 10th March:      Fairtrade Producer Mohammed Hamada and Co-Founder of Zaytoun Cathi Pawson speaking about the impact of Fairtrade and sustainable business models in Palestine.  Zaytoun won the Social Enterprise Award for International Impact in November 2015.  Open meeting in EE G089 at 4.00pm.
