Library news – WRaP workshops, reference management, and more

Hive meeting rooms booked for student study

From 25 April to 12 May, the meeting rooms in The Hive are reserved as student study space. Rooms are not bookable, and students can use them on an informal drop-in basis.

Support with uploading to WRaP

Library Services will be running another Open Access workshop on 21 April. Come along to learn more about how to use WRaP to meet new HEFCE REF requirements:

April 21: 13:00-14:00 (EEG169)

This session is aimed at researchers who have something to deposit in WRaP. It will cover the steps you need to take to deposit an article. It will also consider how to get the most out of Open Access publishing; where to publish; what to consider when entering into agreements with publishers and how to measure impact.

New advice on referencing and reference management

Library Services have updated their guidance on reference management software. Find out more about Mendeley, RefMe, and alternatives on our website. Contact your Liaison Librarian or Su Fagg if you’d like one-to-one support.

Library Services are also providing support to undergraduates with RefMe. Direct your students to our website for more information on getting started with this tool.

Independent study binding for students

All final year undergraduates and Master’s students can have two copies of their independent study softback bound at no charge. All extra copies and copies for assignments, students or courses outside these criteria will be charged at £2.50 per copy.

To get your independent study bound, go to Firstpoint, in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre, to complete the request form. You’ll then be asked to take your work and the form to the team doing the binding. Up to Thursday 28 April 2016 the service will operate from BB63. The binding service operates on a ‘while you wait’ basis. Copies are not held overnight.

From Friday 29 April to Thursday 5 May the service will operate in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre. (Please note, the service is not staffed Saturday 30 April –  Monday 2 May.)
