Library news – The Lancet, The Great Hive Book Rescue, and Bank Holiday opening hours

New subscription to The Lancet

A huge number of our students and staff have been trying to access articles from The Lancet, a very popular general medical journal. We already had access from 1991 up to 2006 through our EBSCO databases, but you can now read current articles too.

Articles from The Lancet will show in Library Search results, or you can go straight to the journal and browse. Our new subscription includes the past four years of issues, so you can read anything between 2012 to the present day on the journal’s platform.

May Bank Holiday opening hours at The Hive

The Hive will be closing early on the first May Bank holiday, but the askalibrarian service will be staffed during its usual hours. The building will be open 08:30-19:00 and the askalibrarian service will be staffed 10:00-17:00.

The Great Hive Book Rescue – now taking donations

Do you have any books lying around that you no longer need? If you’re looking to update your bookshelves we’d love to have them for the ‪Great Hive Book Rescue. In October we’ll make sure the books get new homes with next year’s students. Last year we united over 700 books with new owners and raised well over £300 for RAG charities. So if you have unloved books, send them our way. Donation boxes are now set up in firstpoint, Binyon, The Hive and Charles Hastings.
