Hive meeting rooms booked for student study

Meeting rooms in the Hive continue to be reserved as student study space until 12th May. Rooms are not bookable, and students can use them on an informal drop-in basis.

Independent study binding for students until Thursday 5th May

All final year undergraduates and Masters students can have two copies of their independent study softback bound at no charge until Thursday 5th May (2016). All extra copies and copies for assignments, students or courses outside these criteria will be charged at £2.50 per copy.

To get your independent study bound, go to Firstpoint, in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre, to complete the request form. You’ll then be asked to take your work and the form to the team doing the binding who are also in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre.

Library Services Staff Survey results

Thank you everyone who completed our staff survey. Overall, 96% of respondents were satisfied with our services. Amongst professional support staff, that figure was 100%! You were most satisfied with the helpfulness of our staff, and least happy with the availability of books (all staff) and journals (academic and research staff) – although there were many comments about the improvements that had already been made in these areas. You also gave us lots of feedback for what we’re doing well, and where we could perhaps make changes.

Full results and our responses to some of the suggestions will shortly be available on the library webpages under “About us / Customer Care”.

Congratulations – 100 research outputs live in April

wrapThe drive to increase the deposit rates in WRaP is beginning to take effect, with 100 new deposits being made in April. Please keep up the good work and help us maintain progress towards our twin goals of:

a)      Having 100% of research outputs reported in the RKTC annual reports for 2013/14 and 2014/15 deposited by the end of the academic year, and

b)      Ensuring that all ongoing deposits of journal articles and conference papers  meet the University & HEFCE requirements of being deposited within three months of their acceptance for publication.

If you have any questions, or would like a member of WRaP staff to take you through the deposit process please email wrap@worc.ac.uk and remember for a time limited period we are also offering to deposit some of your outputs for you, so don’t miss out!

Donate your unwanted books for The Great Hive Book Rescue

If you have any books you no longer need, we’d love to have them for the Great Hive Book Rescue. Last year we united over 700 books with new owners and raised well over £300 for RAG charities. So if you have unloved books, send them our way. Donations boxes are now set up in Firstpoint, The Hive and Charles Hastings.

Support for Alumni

You can use The Hive as a member of the alumni, once your student account expires. To ensure you’ve got alumni status, take your University ID card or other identification to The Hive and mention that you’ve graduated. We’ll give you a new library card, which will let you borrow 12 three week loans and 3 University High Demand two week loans. You can also use some of the University’s online resources by logging on to a PC or the wireless network in The Hive.

Please help us by ensuring that you’ve returned your books and that your library record is clear of any charges before you finish.
