Summer Reading Challenge – The Big Friendly Read

We are fast approaching the 6 week summer holiday and this year’s Summer Reading Challenge – The Big Friendly Read

2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl and to celebrate we have a whole summer of gloriumptious activities lined up for children.

Sproglets from 4 to 11 can sign up at any library to take part in the 6 books in 6 weeks reading challenge. It is completely free and there are plenty of rewards to collect along the way. Once you have signed up you will have free access to some fun days out at National Trust Croome Park on Wednesday 27 July and Wednesday 24 August.

At The Hive

Every week throughout the summer holidays you can enjoy Roald Dahl daily activities at the children’s library at The Hive, starting with Danny the Champion of the World from 25 to 31 July.

The ‘best bits’ from each book will be read aloud every day at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Every Thursday from 11 to 12pm there will be a ‘make and take’ session for children to make a squiffling (BFG for brilliant!) surprise home with them. ‘Make and take’ is £2.50 per child and booking is essential. To book your place visit
