Neck pain is common and a significant health problem in working society. Although many factors are associated with neck pain there is a growing need to understand the physical capacity of the neck muscles and how mechanical factors may contribute to dysfunction and pain. This presentation will highlight the mechanical importance of the neck muscles and discuss how factors such as posture, fatigue and pain influence the sensorimotor function of the neck muscles.
