Service User and Carer Group (IMPACT)

Dear Colleagues

You will be aware of our Service User and Carer Group called IMPACT – we are seeking new members and I wondered could the following go in a newsletter:

In IHS we have a group of service users and carers who contribute to our students learning via classroom delivery and also being involved in recruitment and research – see http://www.worcester.ac.uk/discover/impact-service-user-and-carer-involvement.html .

We strongly believe that listening to and valuing the voice of the people using health and social care services will help us produce better professionals. The service user and carer group is called IMPACT and we are looking to recruit more members. We would like to ask any staff member to consider whether they have a friend of family member with lived experience of our heath and care services who might like to join IMPACT. Commitment will vary depending on an individual’s availability and fees/ expenses are paid. Current members of IMPACT have backgrounds as carers of children and adults, mental health, learning disability, domestic violence, physical disability, sight impairment, substance abuse and as care leavers and we are open to expressions of interests from all backgrounds.

Contact Dr. Peter Unwin p.unwin@woc.ac.uk 01905 855126 or Claire Evans claire.evans@worc.ac.uk 01905 542292 for further information.

Yours,

Peter
