Augmented Reality in Live Performance

You are warmly invited to a seminar ‘Augmented Reality in Live Performance

Dr Paul Golz (ISES), Dr Chris Bowers and Dr Marc Price (Computing) of the University of Worcester will be giving a talk on Augmented Reality in Live Performance at The Hive on Monday 12 June 2017.

Augmented reality is an area of active interest the world over. Corporations, both large and small, are investing heavily in R&D. Microsoft’s HoloLens is on the cusp of being released and Pokémon Go was the hit game of 2016. AR has the potential to significantly affect how we interact with the world around us.

Augmenting dynamic scenes, for example theatre, sporting events, or even lectures, is somewhat difficult given the speed of the environment and the potential for differing viewpoints on the scene. In this seminar we will introduce the world of AR within performance and show some of the work happening at Worcester into developing a dynamic AR system.

The seminar will include a very short dance performance by PE and Dance student Lauren Richards. Attendees will also be encouraged to try out their own moves in front of our equipment!
