May saw the end of the second year 30 credit module Lang2011 CELTA in the Language Centre, with a 100% pass rate and with one student, Tia, earning a much sought after B grade Cambridge certificate.
Tia worked extremely hard to get the grade and has gone on to secure employment with an English school this summer. Meanwhile, one year after completing LANG2011, another grade B CELTA teacher, Helen, has found a teaching job with Kingsway, a local EFL school.
The first Online CELTA also came to a close in May, again with 100% pass rate and the first grade A CELTA candidate for the University. This grade, awarded by Cambridge Language Assessment, is exceptionally difficult to attain so congratulations are in order for that student and this reflects exceptionally well on the Language Centre delivery and the University as a CELTA provider. The Online CELTA also resulted in two grade B certificates amongst the certificates awarded and candidates from the course are already securing interviews for work abroad.
The Language Centre is now busy delivering the first of its two four-week summer CELTA courses. There is still space on the second four-week intensive CELTA course running from June 23 to July 21 (please see the Language Centre web page for details).
The next Online CELTA course is scheduled to run from September 2 to December 9 and the Language Centre has doubled the number of applications from second-year students for LANG2011.
