Further to the recent email from Helen Johnstone regarding the new Information Security policy, I am writing to confirm the training arrangements for all staff.
The aim of the training programme is designed to provide you with the opportunity to fully understand: the details of the new policy; the implications of current and pending legislation around information security and data protection; and, where appropriate, to make suitable changes to your working practice.
All staff are required to successfully complete by 1 November 2017, the online training course UCISA Information Security Awareness Training accessed via LearnUpon, our new staff e-learning platform. All staff now have a LearnUpon account (please use the same user name and passwords to other UW accounts). The course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete (including the test at the end), you have the option to complete the training in stages, and at a time that is convenient to you. UCISA have developed this online training and clearly understand the issues that staff working in HE may face. Staff will be requested to revisit the training after two years, and will receive a reminder at that time.
In addition, over the coming months IT are running regular Information Security Awareness Training to provide you with the opportunity to understand and comply with current IT security best practice and identify and access appropriate support. These sessions will last about an hour. Full details, including date, time and location of the workshops are on Workshop Bookings where you can book your place.
While the above training is mandatory, its aim is to help you feel confident in understanding the new requirements; to support you to make the necessary changes in your working practice and to enable you to fully comply with the Information Security policy. If you have any questions or feedback please do not hesitate to contact the Staff Training team on email@example.com. If you have any questions about the security of the information you work with please contact the IT Service Desk .
