Last Monday 19th March, Facilities took on Finance in a Bake Off to raise money for the University’s Charity Challenge, an endurance race with 10 teams participating to raise money for our Charity of the Year, Smile for Joel. The event itself will take place on 8th June, and will involve the teams doing a 25 mile night walk, 14 miles canoeing, a 10 mile run, a 51 mile cycle ride, shooting basketball hoops at the Arena, a 300m swim across Lakeside, and the final challenge of a whole team tractor pull over 200m, all in the space of 24 hours.
The Bake Off started at 9am and the results were called at 2pm, with Finance raising £346.85 and Facilities raising £350.90. There was also a raffle for an iPad Mini which raised £108, and the teams went on to sell more cakes in the afternoon raising a further £78.50.
The total raised on the day amounted to £884.25, a significant amount for the Challenge.
The iPad Mini was won by one of our students, Maria Serghiou, so congratulations to her!
Well done to all those involved!
