Library Services symposium at L&T Conference: Resource lists: what works, and what doesn’t. Perspectives from staff and students
Library Services are delighted to be hosting a Resource Lists symposium at the Learning and Teaching Conference on Thursday 14th June. Our panel brings together staff and students from across the university to discuss the key tool at everyone’s disposal to enable students to read and engage with information: online resource lists. Creator of the legendary resource list for SOCG3110, Dr Luke Devine, will discuss his innovative use of resource lists as a teaching and marketing tool, with insight from students on his Sociology modules. Dr Martin Lipscomb will outline how his characterful annotated lists contribute to his teaching with Nursing students. Michelle Malomo describes how she re-defined her teaching practice in the development of her resource lists. 3rd year English Literature student Bethan Smith will report on her research into the impact resource list design has on student satisfaction. The session will be chaired by Liaison Librarian Allie Taylor, and will include presentations, questions and discussion, as well as a short video based on research and input from across UW: Resource Lists: why bother? See you in EE2033 at 12.00.
Scopus and Web of Science workshops
Are you interested in discovering new research, tracking impact and find out about sources of funding? Want to know how Web of Science and Scopus can support your research? Library Services are offering two sessions on our citation and abstract indexes to show you how these tools can help your work
- Learn how to search efficiently and quickly
- Use smart tools to track, analyse and visualise research
- Searching for your author profile using ORCID
Two lunchtime sessions have been arranged for 26th June and 17th July, 1pm – 2pm, in EE1102, so there will be a chance to have some hands-on training.
Box of Broadcasts (BoB) downtime
Box of Broadcasts will be unavailable between 11 – 13 June 2018 due to the relocation of its servers. The supplier is working very hard to minimise the impact of this move on BoB service delivery but it will be necessary to switch BoB off for up to 3 days whilst equipment is moved. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Resource Lists progress
It’s never too early to publish your Resource List for next semester! Thanks to everyone who has engaged with this so far:
