Annual ‘Handmade’ Christmas Market this Thursday and Friday

The University’s Annual Christmas Celebration will be held on Thursday 12 December from 4:30pm in the Students’ Union Hangar at our St. John’s Campus.

Now an established tradition, the Communications and Participation department and friends will host a Christmas Market. You will find all your usual holiday favourites, including a wonderful array of handmade crafts, gifts, stocking fillers, decorations, cards and baking as well as fresh holly and mistletoe. See below for a sneak peek!

Take the chance to purchase unique and beautifully made items and cross a few names off your Christmas list. There will be lots of new things in the market this year, including festive bunting, preserves, wreaths, paper poinsettias, homemade dog treats and more!

In honour of our naming as the UK’s most Sustainable University last month, we’ve renewed our focus on ‘reuse and recycle’. We’ve been busy making fabric wrapping paper and reusable gift bags as well as crafting items from innovative supplies, such as donated wool and clippings from the Grounds Team.

If you can’t join us on the 12th, we’ll be holding a second stall on Friday the 13th in the St. John’s reception from 11am to 1pm. We’ll be adding to our collection of crafts with a ‘re-gifting’ bric-a-brac section. Do you have have well-meaning but perhaps unwanted gifts from last year lurking at the back of a cupboard? Bring them in and add them to the stall  and help to raise funds for a good cause. We’ve already started a collection of toys and games, all unused and in their original wrapping, ready to be put to good use.

We will also be raffling a luxury Christmas Hamper, with treats from Fortnum and Mason, M&S and other interesting shops.

If you can’t attend either event, but are interested in buying an item or purchasing raffle tickets, please get in touch with us on communications@worc.ac.uk

All proceeds will go to the University’s Charity of the Year.

Many thanks to everyone who has already donated such beautiful crafts. There is still time to contribute – you can drop off your creations and your ‘re-gifting’ items to the Communications and Participation office in Woodbury or bring them along on the day!
