On Friday 6th March Dr Lucy Arnold is delivering a public lecture, Wolf Hall in Worcester: A look at Hilary Mantel’s Novels. The lecture starts at 7pm in Worcester Cathedral (8 College Yard, Worcester, WR1 2LA).
Dr Lucy Arnold is a Lecturer in Contemporary Literature in the Department of English, Media and Culture at the University. A specialist in narratives of haunting, she has published widely on the writing of Hilary Mantel.
In the week which sees the publication of the final book in Mantel’s Tudor trilogy, The Mirror and the Light, join Dr Arnold for a talk on our relationship with history, heritage, architecture and literature through the lens of a local look at Mantel’s Booker-Prize winning novel Wolf Hall. In the shadow of Prince Arthur’s tomb, Dr Arnold uses the Tudor architecture of Worcester Cathedral as a starting point for exploring how our relationship with the historical past is haunted by our material interactions with heritage sites and historical fiction.
Staff and Students are warmly invited to attend the lecture. There is no charge to attend and friends and family members are also very welcome.
