New and returning students enjoyed a warm welcome back to the University over the weekend. Welcome Weekend saw students able to meet each other, find out about clubs and societies, as well as get support and advice, and enjoy food and drink at a physical distance, in the open air at City Campus. It is the first time Welcome Weekend has been held in such a way and proved extremely popular, attracting much praise, including from a long-serving staff member, who commented: “After spending 20 years at UW, this is one of the best initiatives and events that I have seen.”
Vice Chancellor, Professor David Green CBE, said: “We are delighted to welcome new and returning students back to the University and Welcome Weekend was a real success. Thank you to the Students’ Union, Facilities, Student Services and all our partners who worked so hard to create such a warm, welcoming atmosphere.”
