The sad news has reached us that Ted Townley, who enjoyed a distinguished career at Worcester from the 1970s until his retirement in 1993, has recently passed away after suffering a stroke. Ted was an outstanding Head of History and also served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Ted played an important strategic role as Worcester College of Education transitioned into Worcester College of Higher Education in the 1970s. He will be very fondly remembered by all of those who had the pleasure of working with him.
